UW-Message

Faster Project focuses on the development of both theoretical and practical skills. From the perspective of those interested in accounting, the ability to apply the  acquired knowledge in practice is absolutely crucial in one’s career.

The main objective of the project is to make the participants understand what is the impact of all individual elements of the accounting system on the process of running a business, so that they are able to compete with those who already have some work experience in accounting. The employees who would like demonstrate their initiative and creativity at work, need to understand how business works and how to move in its different areas. Therefore, in the FASTER project we place  emphasis on practical approach to learning. We believe that theoretical knowledge should be communicated in an easiy und comprehensive manner, based on many examples. In turn, for the platform’s participants to realize different kind of problems and strengthen their knowledge, it is essential to put them in a situation where they keep company accounts - when every action they perform affects operations of the company, and any mistake has consequences and should therefore be found and corrected.

For this purpose, we decided to invite companies that produce the most popular financial-accounting software in Poland and abroad such as: RAKS (Poland) and SAGE (global company, listed on the London Stock Exchange) to the National Support Group in FASTER Project. These companies, apart from theapplications related strictly to accounting, offer services in the area of complex business management and continuous surveying of essential elements of the business life. We would like to make the participants aware of the fact that booking of any operation, is not only numbers, but actual changes in assets and sources of the firm’s funding.

We are currently working on charts of accounts using financial and accounting software. In order to show the structure and use of the chart of accounts, we are going to present a register of basic business transactions on individual accounts. The demonstration of how the chart of accounts is being applied in the accounting program, allows users to get a very clear and practical picture of the company's accounting. At any time the user will be able to see how every financial document, even the least important in their opinion, affects the situation of the company (starting with financial reports and finishing with analyzing them using ratios). FASTER platform will give the users an opportunity to test their knowledge by bookkeeping a "virtual company". Participants will be given tasks to complete and problems to solve. We will concentrate our effort on developing some useful skills such as understanding the essence of business transactions, responsibility, accuracy, punctuality and the ability to deal with many problems at the same time.

Cooperation with companies offering financial-accounting software brings about great opportunities for FASTER platform popularization and commercialization of these innovative educational products among training centers, as well as distributors and users of the software. Nowadays firms lead bookkeeping relying on any chosen financial and accounting software, so knowing different computer programs has become an inseparable part of practical experience in accounting. FASTER platform gives the participants a chance to learn financial and accounting software without bearing high costs of the courses.

"Let us remember that the goal of  educational platform is innovation. To fulfill this goal we have to create something that did not exist before. A product that will actually gain popularity and become a great source of knowledge, one that anyone interested in accounting wants to use. We believe that the combination of theoretical knowledge and practice will lead us to the desired effect, and together with the users of the platform we will succeed, because FASTER will help them start an international career”.
